Onobrakpeya is a prolific artist, printmaker, painter, teacher and scholar. Rather than a definitive style, his works are comprised of specific periods that different in content and media ranging from lino cut prints, bronze, paintings, drawings and installations. His themes range as well including such ideas such as the Nigerian folklore, the Zarian landscape, Christianity, environmental degradation, politics, philosophy and social unrest. Onobrakpeya is described as a “living legend” who is “responsible for the renaissance in contemporary art in Nigeria.”
